New swim suit?

I'm at work right now, so I can't upload a picture to this blog, but is this not the ugliest swim suit you've ever seen? Or maybe I'm just not hip.

So much better than a house full of cats.

Oh my god, Laurel, this is amazing. We need to buy an island and fill it with tortoises. Must watch.

Looks familiar...

Ok, this is hilarious. I originally stumbled upon this etsy shop because I thought this wedding dress was pretty--Etsy has a new wedding site! With a registry! Totally awesome.

Isn't it nice? I looked at the other pictures of the model, and I thought those trees looked a little familiar...so I checked out the profile of the shop, and it's from Garberville! Totally funny! I can't figure out if the owner is someone we know, but some of the models definitely are. And the whole shop is like an advertisement for Garberville. Too good.

dressy dressy dress

You know, I keep coming back to this dress. Simple, elegant, and chiffon. And comes in green. But what do you think: too short or not? There isn't a picture of it on a model, though I know JCrew has a tendency to make things panty-hugging. As in super short. Sorry if that didn't make much sense. I've had a couple glasses. You are lucky this entry is even readable. Damn it Charles Shaw and your cheap, delicious wine...oh yeah. A picture.

Taryn dress in silk chiffon

Plus, I would match you pretty well. Is that comma supposed to be there?
Plus then I could do whatever with my hair/jewelry/stuff because the dress is so simple. (Doesn't look right without the comma.)
BUT I don't have my heart set on it, so lemme know whacha think. I shall continue the search till we speak. Or until I pass out. Whew.

Love all the silly bits of you

Cute overload.

Ummmm....cutest thing ever. Nothing to do with weddings. Please go look at them all.

Hurrrr

I love this hair!
\

But I wonder if my hair is too long for it. Still like the low ponytail idea, but I might ask if this is possible. Excellent.

Female anatomy dress

Honest question: Do the ruffles on the front of this dress remind you of a hoo-ha?

Cause I think I kind of like it, but I am not sure.

Pretty flowers

Not necessarily for the wedding, but I just thought these were lovely! And easy to make.

Greeeeeen dresses!

I think I might've stumbled upon something! Lots and lots and lots of dresses--and they're really easy to search. You can pick a color, style, length, etc. I really like their green shades. It won't let me post pictures, but oh well. It's probably going to ask you to sign in to see anything, so I'll send you an email with the login info. You never know who could be lurking on our blog!

Garters

I love the garters you posted! So pretty. Especially the flat lacy one at the top--and there's a blue one just like it on the website. Gorgeous!

So I think my all-time favorite picture of garters so far is this one:

I love the idea of having more than one garter, maybe two or three smallish ones, and having them be different sizes. And the colors are so fun! I'm not set on any color in particular, but i just love the fun different color combinations. The yellow and bluish is pretty, maybe a green with thin white lace, etc. And I like that they're kind of plain but all different styles, kind of funky. My main problem is that I don't want a really floofy traditional garter, you know? I don't really want something white and ethereal. I love these, but even most of them are a little too girly (as if garters aren't the most girly things ever, ha!).

So, what do you think?

More dresses

Lot's of dresses! These are just a few random things that I bookmarked a couple of days ago--some dresses that I thought you might like, some shops that had some promising ones, etc. None of them are totally perfect, but it's just more things to look at!

J Crew. I'm not a big fan of the color, but I kind of like the cut, and it's so shiny!

I loooooove yellow dresses, so maybe this one is more for me.... But was do you think? I really like the bottom cut, although maybe it's a bit too ruffly up top. Have you checked out the rest of the Bhldn shop? They have some pretty things, although most of the dresses are way over priced.

I realize that this dress is a bit tight and short (although it might not be so bad on someone reasonably heighted, like you), but isn't the back gorgeous?? Asos has some nice things.

Another one from Asos. Sexy back!

Other shops that I've been browsing through, which I'm sure you've already checked out, are Mango, Modcloth, and Shopbop. I love Shopbop because they have so many freaking things, and they have a good search function. Their website was being finicky this morning though so I couldn't link to it. Anyway, hope some of those gave you something to look at! Love you!

Non-Wedding Eye Candy!

top scoring links : AbandonedPorn

That is all. I am on the hunt for a dress starting Wednesday. What would you say to other colors? Say a nice yellow? Something earthy, for sure. Maybe a tan or beige if there is a nice one? i love green as much as the next bloke (yep) but I'm keeping the window open for others, just in case.

Dresses

Today is all about...dresses for you! I see a lot of internet time in my future. Not that that's anything new. I found two pretty ones so far this morning. Not green, but I liked the styles. And they're gorgeous colors of blue! It won't let me save the pictures though, so you just have to click the links. They're here and here. Kind of simple though. Are you in the market for something a little more elegant or intricate?

Also, I saved this post about green bridesmaids dresses the other day! Just because I thought it was a coincidence--I didn't think any of them would really grab you. I love modcloth, but their dresses might be a little too indie casual. Unless that's what you want!

I know Meer is visiting, so you don't need to worry about all this crap now. Something to look at when he leaves!

Air plant wedding

Check out the fabulous use of air plants going on here! It's actually an inspiration shoot, but pretty neat stuff.

Also, I can't remember if I showed this to you, but I think I might want to make this exact bouquet:

The boutonniere is lovely too, don't you think? The wrapping on the bouquet is linen and thin brown velvet. I like!

ZERTS.

As in...desserts. Let's talk about them. I want to know what you are considering taste-wise, because I want to try out some recipes :) I have all these young people around me to test the treats on, so now is the time! Also I miss baking and can't keep justifying making things just because I am bored. People around here get all angry-like when you put too many sweets in front of them. Stupid Californians and their diets.

Anyways, I have a list going of delicious, single-serving desserts. Mini fruit tarts! Mini lemon cheesecakes! Mini DOUGHNUTS! MINI ALL THE THINGS.

Check some of them out:

Post image for Holiday Recipe Exchange | Chocolate Caramel Tarts

chocolate donuts with blood orange glaze

Holy god the blood orange doughnuts.
What are some of your favorite flavours? (British spelling for flare)
What sorts of desserts give you the preferred mouth feel? (Heh)
They should probably have some trying theme (within reason, at least).
Start thinking. And I shall start trying.

Micro crocheted creatures

We need to talk about how amazingly adorable all of these tiny crocheted creatures are. Like, sickeningly cute. Ridiculous. You could totally make these.

Look!

Just a creepy/beautiful picture of nature being totally inspiring in its awesomeness. No big deal.

shoes

If I see one more pair of sparkly fucking Jimmy Choos that I can't afford on these god damn wedding websites, I'm going to vomit.

WOAH cake stand!

Woah woah WOAH, this would be so cool! GO FLIRT WITH SOME HANDY MAN CUTTING DOWN A TREE SOMEWHERE. I could make this EASY if we had the wood.

Can't imagine how much this stand cost to make

Unrelated to weddings...

...unless the caterer falls through! i just had to share this with you.

Mormon safety plan in case of forest fire/doomsday/zombie apocalypse. Very precise, and actually a good list to have if you live somewhere like our parents! Go figure.

Look look look!

Look at this freaking wedding! They read our collective minds! The jars! The lights! The sparklers!
EVEN THE HAND-SEWN HEART THINGS. Insane. And very cute, all of it :) Go look at all the pictures!

Copy cats

It's kind of funny how many aspects of this wedding are EXACTLY what I picture and what we've been talking about--all of the details! The glass jars! The globe candles! All of the greenery and natural feeling decorations! Lovely.

Yuummm

Um, I'm really going to try and talk one of my girlfriends into making this cheesecake for my wedding. Doesn't it look delish? Maybe we can make it!

Hair...

I think I found a good place to get our hair/nails done the day of! It's a salon in the Marigny called Rocket Science Beauty Bar, and they do everything from hair to makeup to waxing to nails. They even do shellac for $35, which is pretty good. Check out the reviews on yelp!

I thought maybe we could go around noon or so--maybe earlier?--for manicures and hair. I figure I'll do my makeup myself (yeek!), but if you were into getting a pro to do our makeup we could think about that. What do you think?

After the fact, of course...

I know this is fairly late in the game, but look at what I stumbled across...is this anything like the one you originally wanted? And cheap, too!!

Green Dress!

I know this is super expensive and I would never buy it at this price, but isn't it beautiful?? Something like this would be perfect for the wedding! I was thinking something longer and classier, and maybe I can find something like this but a little more mid-length.

Tablecloth!

How awesome is this diy tablecloth?? I'm not sure exactly what we could use it for--maybe desserts? Something at the crawfish boil? I don't even know! I just want to make one!

Plants

Totally made me think of you. And your future house. Nothing to do with weddings.

NLZ

Crazy nails!!

Also, I know I have said this before but you should totally be watching Downton Abbey. Srsly. I just picked it up again and am about half way through the second season that just ended. I love the characters, the writing, the costumes, the sets, and most of all Maggie Smith. Watch it.

Love you very much

I could wear gold!

We could be like Kate and Pippa - wearing similar colors. Look at the...second dress in from the left, second row down. Gold. I love it! No idea where to find it though.

Succulents

I know you are into air plant (which I am totally into as well) but this is also a beautiful option if the air plants don't work out for any reason. These are SO EASY to steal, as I have found out recently...

Here are a bunch of fun wedding things:

1. I have recently become obsessed with putting things in lightbulbs. Here we see hanging candles. The only problem is you can't use the incandescent ones because handling the insides might give you mercury poisoning...bad stuff. And obviously the fancy curly ones wouldn't work. But still.

http://ruffledblog.com/galleries/chic-perth-australia-wedding/?pid=27176&nggpage=3

2. You could put candles up on tree posts! They could match the tree cake stands (See below post).

3. I always liked the idea of putting non-nature things in the bouquet, like a small charm. Not as...ambitious...as this, but I still like it.

4. It would be very cool and very scary to have this wedding:
http://www.projectwedding.com/post/list/most-extreme-wedding

5. But please don't have this wedding:
http://26.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lupr284CoL1qcf9ito3_400.jpg

6. I am NOT sorry to say that I think this broad's bouquet is B-A-N-A-N-A-S. Srsly. Wut.

The internet is full of amazing things!
Love you.

Easy, Beautiful, Cheap, Green

Think we could do these with things around New Orleans? Know anyone with tree limbs in their back yard? Cause it would be neat-o to have these in all different heights for your desserts...

MY dress!

I totally wouldn't mind wearing something like this to your wedding...it looks a little too stiff for dancing, though. I think I want something a little...flowier. Still, simple and gorg.

Very pretty!

Let me know if the picture doesn't come through. Have you tried on the dress yet??

FIY -

Here is a post all about making your own bouquet! Go figure.

http://www.100layercake.com/blog/2009/09/09/diy-wedding-bouquets-by-brittni/

I thought maybe I could sew/bead/do something else around the base of whatever you are holding so it dangles down a bit around your hands...just a thought!

Woah!

OK also not pertaining to wedding. But isn't this COOL? Sorry in advance, but I honestly think this is one craft I will have to leave to the experts.

registry

Thinking of registering for this bedding, but I think it might be a little too off the wall. Plus, who's going to buy us a $250 duvet, even if it does have a gigantic octopus on it?

Emergency kit

Also, this is kind of funny but a really good idea. Seems silly to make one just for a wedding (although she's a wedding coordinator, so obviously she should have one), but I kind of want to have an emergency kit with all of that stuff in it just to carry around always.

Pot hole gardens

This has nothing to do with weddings, but it reminds me of you!

Cute

Someone did these as favors! Personally I lean much more towards something growable/edible, but they are sill cute.

I don't know what the deal is with lights at this place, but this would be so cool! And I could totally make it easy-like.

Name Spoons!

These are pretty cool. Not sure for what, maybe just for labeling plants. But still :)

Wdng Drsz

What do you think about this dress?? Maybe it's crazy, but I'm thinking of ordering it! It's on sale, they have it in my size, free shipping and free returns....what do you think?

I also like this dress, especially the champage color, but they don't have it in my size. And it's pricier. Thoughts?

(PS--Sorry about the lack of picture! These sites won't let me save them.)

Wedding dreeeessssseeeessss

Um, can you tell me if this site looks awesome or totally lame? I stumbled upon it on a blog that was doing a giveaway (I did NOT win). They're kind of not really my style, but they're so cheap! I think I've looked at so many dressed in the past couple of weeks that I just don't know what to think anymore. Now that I'm looking at them again, I think they might be silly. Anyway, let me know what I really think. Three that I think are not terrible are the Lilly, Eloise, and the Faye. Or maybe they actually are terrible. I just don't know.

Apps and Zerts

I think these would be delicious and easy for your clam-bake-lobster-boil-hippie-west-coast-"what's that they're smoking"-non-traditional-rehearsal dinner.

CAAAAAAAKEEEEE

Besides loving this woman, THIS is genius. Re-think your cake idea. Or maybe we can just do this ourselves. Just the two of us. I'm down if you are.

Another one

How about this dress? all I want is lace in my life. Maybe you should MAKE your dress. Word.

Cool Lights!

Isn't this website amazing? Granted, it's in French. But it's this French light boutique where you can choose whatever color lanterns you want in any quantity to make your own unique garlands! And they are the sturdy kind, no paper. The possibilities are endless! Look under the "garlands" tab. Incredible.

The box Cousin Paul: 03 stores

The box Cousin Paul: Garland 08

Obviously you would never order these from Paris, but wouldn't something like this be beautiful? In a wedding, or just in general. You could have them for every themed party you could think of!

Dream dress

Ok, so this is my dream dress. I love the neckline and those cap sleeves! Although I wouldn't want anything this long--maybe knee length and not as billowy. But isn't the top of the dress gorgeous?

I would also not like it to be made by Reem Acra, and not therefore cost approximately $2500.

The whole wedding is gorgeous and makes me want to scrap this whole New Orleans thing and move to Big Sur. Sigh...
